Trebuie sau vreau / I have to or I want to

[below in English]

I've wanted to write about the difference between doing what we have to do and what we would like to do for a long time. Sometimes the limit between these two is barely perceptible, but rarely nonexistent. Why? The answer is quite simple: we want to live up to the expectations we think are set by those around us or by society and we like to be appreciated, whether we admit it or not.

It's probably impossible to do everything you want in your life. You cannot have them all, no matter how hard you try, but we'll talk / I'll write about it another time. Balance is essential. We have to accept that not all things can be exactly as we would like them to be, and the key is adaptation.

We have to follow some rules and not to do everything that crosses our minds, but we shouldn't exaggerate and become puppets. We are human beings and we have the freedom to choose what matters.

I did many things because they seemed normal to me. I had the impression that I should follow a logical path and put aside my feelings. I thought dreams aren't always meant to become reality, and that intuition may be wrong. I was wrong. Being and doing what (who) you want is...everything.

You can go on a path prepared by someone else. You can become a doctor or a lawyer because it is the career of one of your parents and they want you to follow their example. You can have a relationship with someone you are alike and you don't feel fulfilled with. You can live for the sake of appearances. The question is: will you be happy? I tend to say that the answer is no.

Live for yourself. No matter what you do, you will never be perfect. Ideal is an illusion and in the end you will be just with yourself...

Meditație... / Meditation...

[below in English]

Sometimes we have moments in which melancholy strikes us and we ask ourselves all sort of existential questions. "Why is life so unfair?", "Why do people suffer?" and other such curiosities cross our minds.

One of people's greatest fears is death. Maybe some of them aren't very afraid of this life's reality, but the unknown is a fear we cannot hide. We have a little thrill when we try a new experience, and death is certainly a great unknown.

By uniting these two elements – existential questions and meditation on death – we inevitably get to the curiosity about the longevity of our own life. Whenever it may be our last day in this existence. It's a proven fact that the end comes usually unexpected. But perhaps, if we knew the last day, we would spend it in a special way, different from how we are used to.

I think we would be more honest, forgiving, and affectionate. We would be honest because we would realize we have nothing to lose. We would be forgiving: we would forgive all the wrongs and injustices that have ever happened to us because the place where we are leaving they will no longer matter. We would be affectionate with all the important people in our lives, because there would be only those moments and dreaming with open eyes to the future wouldn't make any sense. We would probably go to the places in which we feel the safest and we'll seed in our souls all the beautiful moments.

The only treasures we will keep forever are those gathered in the soul. Material things are ephemeral. So, let's grow day by day our spiritual wealth and live every day as it would be the last. Let's appreciate all the beauties of life and enjoy everything with all our hearts!
